Mass Mobilization for Retirement Rights in Buenos Aires

Tomorrow, various organizations, football fans, and sectors in struggle will mobilize for a just cause: to defend a dignified life for retirees. Despite the threats from Minister Patricia Bullrich, a large turnout is expected this time to demand better conditions for retirees.

In the lead-up to this action, different organizations, such as the Buenos Aires Press Union and human rights bodies, are calling a press conference to denounce the escalating repression by the Security Forces and demand the immediate repeal of the Anti-Protests Protocol.

According to the organizers, this mobilization is part of the struggle for the extension of the pension moratorium, full coverage of medications, and an increase in pensions to combat the poverty affecting thousands of older adults. A systematic attack on the rights of the most vulnerable sectors and an advance of repressive policies that threaten democratic freedoms are being denounced.

At the press conference, the presence of human rights advocates, union leaders, journalists, and representatives of social organizations is expected, who will testify about the violence exercised by the State and the urgency to halt the encroachment on rights. Information will also be provided about the organization of the protest march scheduled for the following day.

Football, which evokes passions in Argentina, joins this time to support the cause of retirees, showing that it can be a vehicle for defending rights. The call is extended to the general population and the media, aiming to continue demanding dignified pensions, access to health, and against the austerity plan affecting this vulnerable sector.

Additionally, it is emphasized that this mobilization will have the presence of fans from various clubs, joining the solidarity initiative to support retirees in their demands.
